LMLM 1600x400 Combined grants

Mental Health Media Grants

The Mental Health Media Grants or Pūtea Pāpāho are awarded to journalists passionate about reducing discrimination against, and increasing social inclusion towards, New Zealanders living with mental distress or illness.

These grants fund projects in the media that make a real and lasting impact on our hearts and minds. Winning projects are designed to help end the social judgements, myths and barriers to equal opportunity that people living with mental distress can face.

Each Media Grant offers up to $10,000 NZD, as well as a fellowship and project guidance from the Mental Health Foundation on behalf of Like Minds, Like Mine.

Between 2007 and 2010, 16 New Zealanders were awarded a Media Grant. In 2015, the grants were re-launched with new funding from the Te Hiringa Hauora/the Health Promotion Agency.

Our grants are now open, with applications closing at 5pm, Friday 15 October 2021. Please head to mediagrants.org.nz for more information and to apply.
